Auctioneering Classes

Auctioneering classes are offered each fall (Aug – Dec.) semester at Harrisburg Area Community College and each spring (Jan – May) at Clarion University/Pittsburgh area Campus.  Each semester is a 15 week period held on the weekends (Sat/Sun) to accommodate the state required hours for the 20 credit program.  Classes are given in Audience Communications, Auction Law, Procurement and Appraisal of Merchandise for Personal Property and Real Estate, Conducting the Auction (how to be in compliance with governmental agencies), and Preparations for the auction, and the online Internet presence.

Upon successful completion of this 20-credit/15 weekend program, students will be able to apply to sit for the Pennsylvania State Auctioneer’s License Exam and upon passing of this exam become a Pennsylvania Licensed Auctioneer.

Students learn the techniques, methods and principles of auctioneering that will enable and prepare them to organize and conduct an auction, understand and use procurement and appraisal resources in order to be successful, and to conduct an auction with a solid understanding of legal issues and requirements.

The Auctioneering Programs meet all educational course requirements necessary to sit for the PA State Auctioneer’s License Exam.
